The Perfect Layered Winter Outfit

Art by Nita Leger Casey

With temperatures fluctuating before winter fully sets it, it can be hard to choose what to wear on a day to day basis. Here is how you can wear more or less the same outfit no matter the temperature!

Here is a handy collage I have created for the perfect outfit for a chilly day.

Clockwise from the madewell sweater, we have a topshop coat and skirt, a Chloe nile bag, Stuart Weitzman boots, and a stella & dot jewelry set. I’ve chosen a soft and feminine vibe for this outfit, using the pink skirt and bag to give the outfit a rosy tinge. Here is how you can alter this outfit (and almost any) for changes in temperature:

-Ditch the faux fur, switch the thigh high boots for an ankle bootie, even switch the sweater for a grey blouse instead

-Wear a fur vest instead of the coat and wear a shorter length of boot.

-Wear the outfit as pictured. I do not recommend spending an entire day outside in it, but  it will be warm for going out and about, maybe doing some holiday shopping.

-Extra Cold

-Wear the outfit as pictured but wear a thermal top underneath the sweater and add warm thigh high socks under the boots.

-Extra Extra Cold

-Wear the outfit as in “Extra Cold” but instead of socks wear thermal leggings, and add leather gloves.

-Colder Than Cold

-Wear the outfit as in “Extra Extra Cold” but add long underwear under the leggings and add a hat like this one called “Eton Peak Hat” by Babaton…

…and add a scarf like this one called “Marled Fringe Scarf” from the Gap
